Life is Good

There she is peacefully sleeping. It could almost fool you into thinking that this baby thing is pretty easy. Almost. My little munchkin has really been putting her daddy and I through the fire by deciding she doesn't want to nap anymore and nighttime should be spent in our bed. Every night I find myself praying, "Lord, please give me the grace and patience to get through this night." And, He does. I knew before I had Haven that the lack of sleep would be really tough on me. I've always been an 8-9 hour required sleep girl. Not anymore.

And now that she's awake more, she's decided that's all she wants to be during the day. So, I have to be pretty crafty to get her to take a good nap. She's only three months old--I'm told it gets easier. But, I have recurring nightmares that she will be 6 months, 9 months, a year old and I will still be getting up 3 or 4 times a night. On the plus side, she generally sleeps in until about 8 in the morning. That's gotta be better than a 5 a.m. wake-up call.

It looks like she is finally picking up all of those meditation poses we have been trying so hard to teach her. Unfortunately, based on her new "I will scream at the top of my lungs when hungry" domination tactic, I am not sure she has reached the place of inner peace. I know every night at 3am I haven't.

Ohh... With such a peaceful little face, surely she has only the sweetest, most lovely karma. Right? You two have no idea how much fun it is to watch you go through all of this. Things definitely will get easier...and then harder...and then easier...and then harder... I've learned that it's a vicious cycle. Overall, though, the good always outweighs the bad, by far. And, no more nightmares! This little one will be sleeping through the night at 7ish months. Auntie Sarah says so. You're almost there...

Hayden didn't start sleeping through the night until he was around 12 months old. Now he sleeps through the night but he gets up at 5am every morning. Oh and he sleeps in our bed 90% of the time, you need to break her of that ASAP before it's too late...
